An Indian Origin person is today's CEO of Google. He had made it to top of Google where millions of young engineers aspire to join even as employees. He is none other than Mr Sundar Pichai. It's a very proud moment for all of us in Indian Community that a lower-middle-class Indian earns Rs. 2416 crore in Google as a CEO of the company, which is an American based global giant. His skills, his talents, his creativity, his loyalty, his innovation has made him reached that level.
Pichai Sundarajan knows to us today as Sundar Pichai was born in Madurai on 12th of July 1972. He belonged to a lower-middle-class family and had never experienced the luxury of watching television or travelling by car in his childhood. But he saw technology in his hand at the age of 12 where his father bought a landline phone. He had a remarkable skill of memorizing numbers as he could keep in mind at all the numbers that he dialled. Likewise, he was a smart and intelligent student which opened his doors to Indian Institute of Technology at Kharagpur in the metallurgical division. Upon graduation, he migrated to the USA in 1993. He initially planned to pursue a PhD from Stanford and embark as an academic career. However, he dropped that idea. He joined applied material at Silicon Valley Semiconductor maker as an engineer and product manager. But he didn't enjoy it there and decided to quit the job. He later went to Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania to completer his MBA. There he was named a Siebel Scholar and former scholar. After the completion of his MBA, he was appointed as a management consultant at McKinsey and Company. Later he joined Google in 2004 and his entry marked with the launch of Gmail which is a free mail service of Google and he thought that it was a prank as that day was 1st April which is Fool's day. Soon after he was inducted he was hit with first big structure after Google hit and infamous doomsday situation. Microsoft launched Bing a default search engine on Internet Explorer due to which Google search engine was not used. In 2006 almost all people used Internet Explorer to browse and so Sundar was responsible to come up with the new product. He bought Google toolbar that enabled PC makers to install directly into their PC and browse it. Soon he started to work on other Google products. The success of Google toolbar gave him an idea that Google should also have his own browser. He discussed this idea with his seniors but faced serious objections from then CEO Eric Schmidt who thought that it was costly. However, he preserved and convinced the co-founder Larry Page and Sergey Brin to launch Google's own browser. In this way, Sundar played an important role in making of the browser, Google Chrome. In 2008, Chrome proved to be a great success as it allowed users to navigate to Google search Engine. Chrome also paved the way to other chrome products like Chrome OS, Chrome books and Chrome cast. Later he was as vice president of product development and in no sooner he became senior vice president of Chrome and Apps. Within less than one year he has also handled the responsibility of Android which was first handled by its founder Andy Rubin. Again in 2014, he was promoted to head of products which elevated him to become Larry Page second in command. Sooner he established himself as the public face of Google and be as the master of ceremonies for googles annual developer's conference. By that time he had attracted the attention of another technology powerhouse. He was even involved in twitter as vice president of product, There was even that he was invited as CEO of Microsoft. But he was loyal to google. During that time Google's parent company Alphabet was being prepared and hence to keep him on staff, Sundar was announced as CEO of Google.
